This classic spade is ideal for creating beds, edging lawns and planting. The ergonomically shaped handle made from local ash helps you work without putting strain on your body. The extremely sharp spade blade sharpens itself as you work, penetrates the soil extremely easily and cutting roots with ease. This is gardening at the highest level.
Baack Spaten - the original
"Baack Spaten Original" are characterized by the forged back in the blade. Thanks to this reinforcement, the spade does not need an additional stability housing in the blade, is therefore free of soil accumulation points and always remains shiny. As with all forged Baack spades, the blade is conically forged and self-sharpening. The spade blades, which are up to 50% thinner, cut into the soil extremely easily and are nevertheless extremely stable in their shape due to the forged steel. The spring technology of the handle holder prevents the handle from breaking quickly if it is overstressed.

The benefits in your hands
Handle made of the best ash wood
Unpainted so that the wood absorbs sweat while working and thus always guarantees a firm grip. The Baack original spring technology protects the handle optimally against breakage.
Round-head rivets
Round-head rivets can be removed easily, quickly and cleanly when changing the handle. Simply grind off the head and knock it out with a nail.
Forged from a single piece of special steel
With an average of 156 blows from an air hammer, the 1200°C hot blank is stretched and spread out. This creates a compaction of the steel from the handle holder to the cutting edge that can withstand almost any workload.
Forged reinforcement
During forging, a so-called spine is formed in the blade, which gives the spade additional stability. Unlike spades with a pressed-out housing, no soil accumulates on the Baack spade. This makes working easier, the entire blade is used and remains shiny.
Self-sharpening
Thanks to the masterful technique of our master blacksmiths, the blade is forged conically. This means that it gets thinner from the top to the cutting edge. This means that the spade sharpens itself as if by magic while you work and cuts into the soil extremely easily.
